back from the wild west

This is where I grew up in San Diego. Now I'm back on the east coast. It's nice to be in the hustle and bustle of the city again!

Howard Stern says good bye

There was a big send off today in Manhattan for Howard Stern's final broadcast on terrestrial radio. There were thousands of people there and it was a sight to be had. I was surrounded by a sea of people in front and behind me, shoulder to shoulder. It was interesting to be amongst so may loyal fans that came out in the cold and rain, to bid farewell to a radio host of 20 years. Starting January 9th he will begin broadcasting on satellite.

subway strike?

Come this Thursday at midnight the contract for subway employees ends, and they will go on strike. It's happened before. I've got stuff to blog about on Friday and hope that this doesn't happen because it would throw a real wrench in my plans. I guess we'll see.

virgen de guadalupe parade

Everyone was wearing the same t-shirt with the standard image of the virgin while carrying huge flags. Currently outside of my back window there is a marching band playing christmas songs. What a day in the hood.

and the mustache award goes to...

This is a gentleman that Naomi and I met when we went out last night. He said he had been growing it for 6 years, and that he only uses soap to keep it in place! Apparently he makes a different design each day.

digging in the snow

1st snow of the winter!

We went into a bar and came out later to find that it was snowing. It was very beautiful!

1st snow gets Naomi

1st Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum, free!

The whole museum was open, free, and there was a sweet phototgraphy exhibit by Edward Burtynsky. The show was called Manufactured Landscapes and it was amazing. This is a view looking up from the top floor.

Guggenheim for a dollar

Tonight a friend and I went to the Guggenheim because on Friday nights it's a "suggested" donation. That means I suggest that I pay a dollar, and that I did. They are currently having an exhibit on Russian art, it was excellent.
