bringing you phone pics from around town

This was the most god damn funny gallery installation that I have ever seen. The photo isn't that great, but this was 30 TV screens with people standing in front of the same background all singing the same song. They were all singing along to, via ear pieces with the music piped in, different popular Madonna songs. You could clearly hear all their voices, it sounded like some type of American Idol choir, and to watch their body movements and facial expressions was priceless! In another room was bigger flat screens that had about 15 other people all singing along to Michael Jackson songs.

This was a show of Roy Liechtenstein's s 3 Dimensional sculptures. They were AWESOME! The reflection in the mirror is of yours truly.

I wish that I had gotten some info on this artist, but I forgot. Damn. This was seen in a gallery in Chelsea.

All of these were about 3 feet tall. The one in the foreground had a face that was a round reflective ball, just like the one found in gardens.

This is the apartment building that is going up right next to my house. Now they are bringing out the big guns. It seems that they will never finish building it.

Fun with repetition in the 99 cents store. What are these anyway? Little children with cat heads grafted on? Hello Kitty half knock offs? Too weird.

Melissa and Riff finally moved everything into their new home. In the foreground is the bed that Riff built, and he is very-very proud of it. It's made out of oak and looks like a million bucks.

This weekend there was a two day event of open artist studios Down Under The Manhattan Bridge Overpass. There was some really great art and a lot of people. This was the view, of the Manhattan bridge with the Brooklyn bridge in the background, from one of the warehouses that housed some of the artists and the art.

This was an odd group of people who were doing a performance piece. As one person was reading a book over a loud speaker three hooligans were running around each other entangling the fabric in one big braid.

This scary piece of equipment was spotted on a walk home. It would be really fun to drive down the street with the huge saw spinning. People would run, and fast!

Brooklyn fix is taking baby steps in the big city! From here on out Brooklyn Fix will be posting highlights from the Big Apple as well as from Brooklyn. This was an art installation by my favorite word artist Jenny Holzer. This was a three part projection series entitled Jenny Holzer: For The City. It was at various locations around town. This photo was taken at the New York Public Library.

This sticker was placed directly over a "real" subway sticker that says Do Not Lean On Door with a graphic of a person leaning on the door with a line through it. This one made me laugh out loud.

The fiesta was held at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. There were promises of music, food and hot sauce tasting. The food was hardly there, and the music sucked. Although there was hot sauce tasting but it had little to deliver. This was a giant tub of chili, some of which I had. Oh well, maybe next time.

Maybe this is the kind of bike I need! This way no one will steal it. Besides, who would want to even try to get on it? Naomi said she would for the sake of this photo, but I opted to keep both her feet on the ground.
