floating away from my blog

5 + hours, endless stupid people and a novel written in my account notes and guess what? STILL NO DAMN INTERNET!!!!! Naomi called to "cancel" and suddenly people started listening. They claim that it will be turned on by Monday. I'm not holding my breath, we'll just have to see. Verizon Online=crap service!

Sputnik art show

This past weekend I was in a group political art show called Don't Vote For Me. This image is during set up. I haven't been bloging much lately because I STILL DON'T HAVE THE INTERNET AND I'M GONNA FREAK OUT. Verizon Online sucks big time! More on that later. Also, it's so cold outside. I find myself looking down a lot to avoid the wind and this greatly reduces anything interesting to photograph. Cold + no internet = boring blog. In the words of Verizon, "our technicians are aware of the problem and are currently working on a solution."

wet paint varrations

When they paint underground in the subway stations they put up these wet paint signs. More often than not they are usually rearranged in clever ways. This is one example, I'll blog more of them in the future.

christmas tree massacre

Used like a diaper and then thrown out. All of the trees in New York are flocking to the streets in droves. I still have no internet access, so updates are still sparse. Hopefully this will be remedied by Monday.

don't smoke on train platforms

Even if they are outside you'll get a ticket, to the tune of $50. This is officer friendly writing up one for me. Thanks MTA police officer! jerk.

brighton beach aka little russia by the sea

I went to Brighton Beach the other day and was pleasantly surprised. Most things were Russian and there was tons of interesting looking food. This shot is from inside a local market.

a little late, but...

Hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve! The Brooklyn Fix posse kept it local in B-town and had a blast! Right now I'm without an internet connection, I hate it.

back from the wild west

This is where I grew up in San Diego. Now I'm back on the east coast. It's nice to be in the hustle and bustle of the city again!

Brooklyn Fix is on holiday in San Diego until the 27th. Here is a sun rise from the folks house. Expect few updates between now and the 27th.

Howard Stern says good bye

There was a big send off today in Manhattan for Howard Stern's final broadcast on terrestrial radio. There were thousands of people there and it was a sight to be had. I was surrounded by a sea of people in front and behind me, shoulder to shoulder. It was interesting to be amongst so may loyal fans that came out in the cold and rain, to bid farewell to a radio host of 20 years. Starting January 9th he will begin broadcasting on satellite.

subway strike?

Come this Thursday at midnight the contract for subway employees ends, and they will go on strike. It's happened before. I've got stuff to blog about on Friday and hope that this doesn't happen because it would throw a real wrench in my plans. I guess we'll see.

virgen de guadalupe parade

Everyone was wearing the same t-shirt with the standard image of the virgin while carrying huge flags. Currently outside of my back window there is a marching band playing christmas songs. What a day in the hood.

and the mustache award goes to...

This is a gentleman that Naomi and I met when we went out last night. He said he had been growing it for 6 years, and that he only uses soap to keep it in place! Apparently he makes a different design each day.
